EVENTS AND NOTICES

Eldery Well-Being Project Event

Please forgive me if I have done you any wrong in any way. I am going to Hajj”. A sentence heard by friends and family, said to ourselves or whilst waiting when the time comes to  perform the Hajj (Pilgrimage).

Some members of the Elderly –Well Being Project community had the opportunity to attend a preview of the “Hajj: Journey to the Heart of Islam” exhibition organised by the British Museum in partnership with the King Abdulaziz Public Library.

The exhibition examines three key strands: the pilgrim’s journey with an emphasis on the major routes used across time (from Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East); the Hajj today, its associated rituals and what the experience means to the pilgrim; and Mecca, the destination of Hajj, its origins and importance.

The exhibition brings together a wealth of objects from a number of different collections including important historic pieces as well as new contemporary art work.

For more information on the exhibition see:

OTHERS’ EVENTS

Annual Gala Fundraiser  - Reminder!

Moroccan Children's Trust (MCT) is a London-based UK registered charity working with young people in Taroudant in Southern Morocco.

MCT would like to invite you to celebrate its 3rd birthday on Saturday 4 February 2012 by attending its Annual Gala Fundraiser.
Last year the charity raised a phenomenal £8,000 at this event which helped fund and develop many of its projects, including the charity’s Street Children Project which aims to help street children and their families in a holistic approach.

This year has been a very busy and successful year for MCT. The street children project has been running for over a year now, a crèche has recently been opened in Taroudant and a new sports centre is currently being built. MCT is also piloting a women’s rights project. All of this, of course, would be impossible without the continued support and generosity of donors. MCT is pleased to welcome you to attend its Gala fundraiser, a black-tie evening hosted at a beautiful hotel in central London, a 3-course meal, entertainment, guest speakers and a live auction. Tickets are £85 each (or £160 for two). This money will go directly to funding MCT projects for next year. MCT would also like to ask if you have any donations to contribute to the live auction, please contact them at moroccanchildrenstrust@gmail.com.

If you would like any further information about the event, or MCT’s work please write to moroccanchildrenstrust@gmail.com or phone 020 8355 3411.
