"Did you hear the news...they finally caught me! I’m going to jail...but it’s for a great cause...MDA!" This year’s MDA Lockup is scheduled for Wednesday, May 4th at Twisting V Grille in Fredericktown. Please help me raise bail early so I won’t be in jail too long! This being my first offense, I’m hoping for a “light” sentence, but you just never know!
Chamber Member News & Information
Nationally, “First Friday” events have been organized to promote arts, culture, and social networking. Some First Fridays incorporate “Art Walks” where attendees visit open galleries across the town and enjoy “art, music, food, and fun.” Here in Fredericktown during the summer you may find crowds at the ball fields, musicians on the Court Square, Movies in the Park and fundraising events happening all over town.
Our objective in organizing a First Friday Event here is to integrate the many activities already happening in the community into one regular, monthly event. We hope to use the First Friday as an opportunity for organizations and businesses to sponsor activities, educate the public, contribute to and celebrate their community. We hope that by bringing the community into town for a variety of events we can all take advantage of a larger group of people than any one event would attract. We also want to encourage local businesses to use it as a chance to build their patronage.
The Fredericktown Revitalization Initiative would like to provide the framework for volunteers/organizations to participate and co-sponsor activities in this event. We are already discussing hosting Movies in the Park, Pickin’ on the Square, Art exhibits in the Chamber of Commerce, a car show, live music in the park, and local crafters’ and Farmers’ Market. Imagine it as a Main Street Block Party or street fair for the downtown.
Fredericktown Revitalization Initiative (better known as FRI) is looking for partners! We want you to sponsor an event/activity that interests you and take responsibility for making sure it happens. We’ll see that the activity is listed on our promotional materials, you’ll provide the leadership and volunteers to set it up. You can choose from the list to the right or come up with your own. To sponsor an activity call Ruth at 573-783-4085 or email Denny
at dennyhenke@me.com.

Community Events are available on the chamber website under the “Business & Community News” and “Area Events” tabs. The “Business & Community News” tab is the only format that provides information about community events by non-chamber members. Chamber members have the additional opportunities to provide information about their business or organization in our weekly update, as a flyer and on the Community Calendar under the Area Events section, and in the Chamber Office. We can also help to create or design event flyers or promotional information for Chamber Members. Another great Chamber Member benefit is our exclusive referral service when we are contacted for a specific type of business, entertainment or anything else to do in and around Madison County. Community Organizations please submit your event information and meetings open to new members to local media and the chamber office at least one week prior to the event or meeting.
