Welcome to Martha Kisling Fine Art!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday Season with family and friends. We were lucky enough to have all three kids, our new son-in-law and my mother here for Christmas - lots of love, laughter, food and fun!
I decided to forego sending out a December newsletter in favor of an earlier one in January - I am sure everyone was as busy as I was enjoying the season. I was happy to realize that I achieved alot of my art goals in 2011 - kept up with my blog, posted over a hundred new paintings in my Etsy store, taught several workshops and classes, was the Guest Artist for Breckenridge, CO and sold and shipped over forty paintings to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and West Virgina - now it is on to a New Year!
Be sure to check out my blog to see past postings and more of my art and you can also subscribe to this newsletter if you haven't already. Check out past newsletters here.
Happy New Year!

Lisa, our middle child, graduated in December from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Bio Chemistry and Molecular Biology after only three and a half years - we are so proud of her and were excited to be there for the ceremony. She is working for a medical clinic and applying to medical schools - will be fun to see where her journey takes her now!

Workshop Fun
Right before the holidays I hosted a Watercolor Batik Workshop in my home where we painted twelve holiday cards using melted wax, watercolors and rice paper. Art is often such an individual past time that it is important to have those times with other artists to encourage and inspire us. It was a wonderful day filled with seasonal cheer and creative fun!

She received a print of MARSH BIRDS shown above. Make sure you are eligible by signing up to receive my newsletter--you just might be the next winner!! Go to my blog to subscribe.

Creative Journey - New Paints & New Colors!New Paints & New Colors
It is the New Year and time for some new paints. It is easy to get in a rut using the same colors you have in your palette over and over. Stephen Quiller is a well known artist from Creede, CO and uses watercolor, acrylics, casein and goauche in various mixed media combinations. He is also known for his creative use of color and has one of the best books out there on the subject. Just leafing through it inspires you to get bold and experiment with different color combinations - I think I had better order some new paint!
