Welcome
We are here once more at the start of a new year. I’m looking forward to expanding my business while refocusing on certain aspects that may have gotten left behind last year. In the forecast I see many exciting things ahead!

Business news
While I was at the Holiday Fine Art & Craft Sale at the McDonough in December, I found out about a new consignment shop opening in the area. Apparently the owner was looking for handspun yarn to sell in his shop. Not just that, he specifically wanted Ohio-spun yarn. Before I knew it, the owner had found me on Facebook and contacted me. One thing led to another, and starting January 9, I’ll be selling my yarn at Off the Cuff & On the Button in Boardman, Ohio (7301 West Blvd, Suite C-5). The shop consists primarily of high quality, gently used clothing. It is the owner’s personal interest in fiber arts that led him selling yarn in addition to hosting a weekly Stitch ‘n’ Bitch at the shop.

New product launch
I have happily been using Eucalan Delicate Wash for several years. My first bottle was eucalyptus, and when I found the lavender, I bought one of those too, even though I wasn’t even close to using up my first bottle. Every item I knit, whether it is for me or for sale, goes in the Eucalan. Every hand-wash-only garment I own goes in the Eucalan. It always does gets the job done. That got me to thinking: what would it take to sell this product? I sent an inquiry to their customer service and set up an account. Now I have their great starter kit to take with me to festivals! It contains every size bottle and every scent, in addition to lint remover sheets, stain wipes, and gift sets. Just in case you aren’t familiar with the product, it comes in Eucalyptus, Lavender, Grapefruit, and Unscented. Check out eucalan.com for more details!

Featured fibers & breeds
Just dived into 11 pounds of creamy white Falkland top! Originating from the Falkland Islands, this fiber is minimally processed and contains no vegetable matter or chemicals. These fleeces come from sheep that are Merino-crosses – not too fine as to be fussy, yet wonderful for next-to-skin wear. I find that dyeing it is exciting because the colors are always so crisp and vibrant. This is the only fiber that I have on a reoccurring basis. I order it from the same place and because it is a blend of many fleeces, the characteristics are predictable over time. Also, it is currently the only top that I stock. Spinning this preparation may result in a smoother, more even yarn than yarn spun from roving.

Festival schedule
I’m starting off the year with a bang at the Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Festival in February. The organizers have decided to expand the event to include Friday, so the market will now be open that afternoon. I’m excited to be sharing the space with Cosy Knits (literally) and Burgh Baby Gear, two very talented ladies. We’ll be in the same location has they have been previously, so if you know where to find them, you know where to find me. You’ll be able to browse through the freshly dyed Falkland braids, buy a bottle or two of Eucalan, pick up a few tea bags, and grab some fancy stitch markers. But don’t forget to say hello! Access my tour schedule any time by clicking the "On the Road" tab at my Blog.

Looking forward to another amazing year full of woolly wonders!
Yours,
Gwen Erin
