In recent years some leaders within the Pacific Southwest District have begun to take a more serious look at how to connect what is going on across the district in youth and family ministry with what it taking place within the congregations of our distrct in youth and family ministry. 

This first led to the launch of www.psdyouth.net your source for what is happening in the PSD in youth ministry.  Not only will you find information on what is officially offered by the district, but this is a place where individual ministries can submit information on local events that they are putting on that they would like shared with the wider church body. To submit your event just e-mail the details (Who, What, Where, When, Why, etc.) to youthnews@psd-lcms.org.

With the launch of this monthly PSD Youth eNews publication we are movie into the next phase of improved communications on youth and family ministry in the PSD and we want you to be a contributor.  This e-mail shoudl be a newsletter for youth and family ministry leaders in the PSD and by those same leaders.  Regular departments will include.

• DYG News – Keeping people up to date on up-coming DYG’s.
• NYG News – Helping people stay connected to NYG information.
• Resource Review – Brief reviews written by local DCE’s and other leaders on resources they have found useful.  Youth Resource Review Format
• Ministry Tips – Brief tips on best practices in youth and family ministry.  PSD Youth Ministry Tip Format
• Regional Events – Brief information to promote events put on my local congregations.  PSD Youth Regional Event Format
• Special Events (as applicable – i.e. The Summit, LoveFest, etc.) – Brief information to promote events put on my local congregations or groups. PSD Youth Regional Event Format
• Youth Council News – A rundown on recent decisions, members, and how to participate.

Additionally prayers and other appropriate content that is submitted will be included.

The full first edition will be sent in the first half of January, so take the time (right like you have all that much in December) to consider what content you could provide or what events you might want to have included and e-mail them this month to youthnews@psd-lcms.org.

Theme Verse: John 20:21

This year we will be taking a look at the theme expressed in John 20:21. The text reads: “As the Father as sent me, so I am sending you." The DYG theme is threefold: first, we’ll learn how Christ has reached out to us, saving us through His death and resurrection; second, we’ll experience reaching out into our communities by following Christ’s example; and third, we’ll talk about reaching back to our home churches. We have exciting and meaningful servant events planned, so please be sure to have transportation available for each of your participants.
