Welcome note | Fàilte
Apart from the weather, June has been a good and busy month. HISEZ held its first Open Day which was an opportunity for organisations to come in to talk to us as well as catch up with developments. It was a huge success and one we hope to repeat soon, although you can come and see us any time, not just on Open Days!
We also held a virtual coffee morning in conjunction with the Social Enterprise Academy which was great fun and again, something we hope will continue in the future. So stay in touch and even if you can't come and see us in Inverness we are available on Skype too.

Social Enterprise Success in Schools
Young enterprising pupils across the Highlands put on their business hats last month to devise their own social enterprises, combating problems in the local community. HISEZ, who have worked with Business Dynamics for the last three years, visited schools in Inverness, Lochaber and Ross-shire delivering workshops on social enterprise to fifth and sixth year business studies students.
The entrepreneurial young people pitch their ideas to their classmates who decide which social enterprise they wanted to invest in. Business ideas included creating a sensory garden where the produce would be used to generate income and provide employment for disabled adults.
As a result of a previous workshop with Ullapool High School, a group of pupils entered a European business competition with a social enterprise idea which secured them first place and a trip to Italy for the finals.
Catherine MacDonald, programme manager of Business Dynamics said: "It is a great pleasure to have the HISEZ team, Lindsay, Amy and Kirsty, contribute to my programmes. They bring an enthusiasm and an energy which I value highly and they find ways of truly engaging with the young folks. More than that though, they inspire the students to think of business ideas which will help others perhaps less well off than they themselves or ideas to help the environment. Teachers and students go away with a firm knowledge of Social Enterprise and its tremendous value to society."
