Learning with Momwithahook:
With Christmas coming at the end of next month I thought it would be the perfect time to learn the Triple Crochet Stitch as it goes perfectly with my featured pattern. This is a long stitch and is used in cables, scarves, doiles, and afghans. To view the tutorial for this stitch visit http://www.squidoo.com/triplecrochet. You will find a video tutorial by Crochet Geek Teresa.
Featured Crochet Pattern:
This Scarf pattern is one I came up with after learning this stitch via an afghan that I am making for my Mom. It uses the triple crochet stitch and crosses over three stitches. I hope I explained it well enough for you if not please ask me a question on my new formspring page at http://www.formspring.me/momwithahook.
You will find the pattern at http://www.squidoo.com/freecrochetscarfpattern and it only takes one skein of yarn. I used Vanna's Choice for the sample.
Moving Your Hobby to the Next Level:
Last time I mentioned that I closed my blog http://momwithahook.blogspot.com in order to remake it on a WordPress site. I received feedback from some of you that they were sad to see it go. I managed to salvage it from blogger so the old patterns are once again live. Hope this helps you when searching for your next crochet project.
My wordpress blog 'saraduggan.com' is live and I will be adding all my articles there soon.
Be sure to take advantage of Kelly McCaussey's Smart Blogging Skills at the new lower price - just $29 for the entire 15 week class. This is the blogging internship I took last year and it is well worth it. Kelly taught me a lot and each lesson includes an audio and a homework assignment. Ask her about adding her one-on-one coaching to your class.
You do need a WordPress site though. If you need hosting I recommend MomWebs as it is low cost and user friendly. [$55 per year or just $15 per quarter] If you choose MomWebs hosting I will install your wordpress blog for you.
Spotted Crochet Blogs:
HooksAndYarns Blog - owner Deb shares her love of crochet by offering her patterns and love of the craft. You will also find gardening and craft posts as well as a swap from time to time. She is currently doing a granny square swap. Visit http://hooksandyarns.blogspot.com/ to find out more.
SmoothFoxCrochetandKnit Blog - A lovely blog I came across which is perfect for those who enjoy crochet alongs and exchanges. She features a number of granny square patterns for you to use. She is also always looking for pattern testers so if you are into that sort of thing contact her via her blog at http://smoothfoxlover.blogspot.com/.
CuteCrochetChat Blog - I first found Jocelyn on Twitter and then started following her etsy shop. I love the layout of her blog and all the wonderful patterns she shares. This month be sure to check out her new Christmas themed patterns [the elf is my favorite]. She also throws in a book review or two and lots of Etsy Love with cool yarns and patterns. http://www.crochetcafe.blogspot.com/
Squidoo News:
Squidoo has been giving me a headache for the entire month of November. It is bugging on me at sign up but I can enter in at a 'back door' if you will and edit some sites but not others. I've reported it but they don't seem to recognize the problem as they can't 'repeat it on their end'. Ugh. Anyhow, as soon as my dashboard is restored I will be able to update more lenses and add new ones.
The RocketMoms are accepting applications - if you are a squidoo lensmaster and a mom why not apply today. The Rocketmoms offer 4 lenswriting sessions each year along with mentoring and challenges. Visit http://rocketmoms.squidoo.com for more information.
Questions:
No questions this time around but if you have a question about a pattern, blogging or writing on Squidoo do visit my new FormSpring Page and Ask Away. I'd love to feature your question here for other readers.
